Nexus Time Explained
Banana University's Temporal Science department has isolated and specified a Nexus date format.
Having no sun, stars, or other commonly-used methods of time and date measurement, the passage of time is measured in the Nexus as a function of Gatherings. A Nexal Cycle (NC) is defined as a period of time in which two Great Gatherings have occured.
The Nexus is divided into three primary time groupings; Nexus 1, Nexus 2, and Nexus 3. These groups are further sub-divided into Cycles. The nomenclature is 'Nexus {Nexus}:{Cycle}'. For example, at the time of this writing, we are in Nexus 3, Cycle 1, expressed as 'Nexus 3:1'
(OOC: A Cycle is 2 Great Gatherings. That means the calendar year that includes DREAMATION and DEXCON.)
Nexus Timeline
The Really, Really Big Picture
Nexus 1
Little is known about Nexus 1, except that it existed before any of the others.
Nexus 2
This is the Nexus most 'older' Avatars are familiar with. Nexus 2 existed for a period of 5 NC before Bishop traveled back from Nexus 3:700 and brought most of the Avatar population to Nexus 3:1. This Nexus slowly became uninhabitable due to damage chiefly attributable to time travel and Holistic Journeys and ended Nexus 2:155.
Nexus 3
This is the current Nexus. It began 150 Cycles after the end of Nexus 2. Since no one was around to see it, though, the difference is only a matter of semantics. This Nexus began at Nexus 3:1. It is assumed that this Nexus will endure for at least 699 more Cycles, since Bishop originated from Nexus 3:700.
