"Futurama Flash"

Sporadic Rant:
Muahahaha, today I have finally delivered on what I've promised for quite some time. A BBoCS Flash animation. Click this lovely link to be utterly astounded, or at least marginally entertained. The file is quite large (500 k), but it's over two minutes long with high quality audio. It's sort of my version of Fantasia, except I'm interpreting the theme from Futurama.

Now I've received some criticism about the somewhat cruel story I posted yesterday in lieu of a comic, but that's okay. Anything that provokes thought of a higher order is okay in my book. Here's an example of one e-mail I got:

so he was humiliated in front of the whole hallway.
and of course it was easier to laugh than to actually help
the poor sap. i mean, imagine actually having to help the guy up....
heheh. fuck that! mock the bastard! make his life a living hell,
live out the rest of your days perfectly content while this sort of thing
gnaws away at him.... doubt and despair tearing away at him from the
inside out. probably living out his days in middle management. coming home
to instant fucking dinners.
god bless american high school culture. survival of the fittest. fuck the
weak piss on their remains.
drown any remorse you have with beer.
raise your kids to do the same.
gotta prevent those fucking nerds from taking over huh?
cant let any happiness slip through the cracks.
maybe beat some sense into them.

i lost a lot of respect for you after reading your posting in place of the
comic. the sad thing is you still think it is funny.

I was online at the time when I received this e-mail, so I fired off a response pretty quickly. Basically, I said that everyone's entitled to their own opinions and should be able to tell whatever story they want on their own website. I pointed out the paragraphs with the Mel Brooks quotation and the instances where I mention that it is obviously very bad to be laughing at the situation. However, that's the way my personal sense of humor works. I've always had a little bit of a mean streak in me, anyhow, as my old high school friends can readily attest. Anyways, whatever I said seemed to have calmed him down somewhat, as he sent another e-mail:

thanks.
you do a great job on the comic.
the point of my email was that story highlights
all that was fucked up about HS. and how fucked up
attitudes are today....

And that is something with which I can certainly agree. High school was bad for a lot of people, and there's nothing better than reading Hound's Home to rediscover those old feelings of nostalgia and anguish. I'm glad that I didn't alienate a reader because he misinterpreted part of what I was saying. You guys are the best. :)

Since I did a Flash animation, I'll take a few days off and leave it up. I'll have time for a couple more Flash animations, too, and those will more than likely feature recorded dialogue a la The Zucchini Group. Peace out, see you in an indeterminate number of days.
